“Waking up with the birds“, that’s exactly what I and OR7Z did to activate the new reference ONFF-473 Snepkensvijver in Herentals (JO21KE).
And a shack with a view! Looking like an old war shelter but it’s a bird-watch cabin giving a nice view over the ponds. Sunrise was a fantastic spectacle!
As usual starting on 14.044 CW with a nice pile-up and some nice DX : VE7CV in western Canada, K7ABV in Montana en 4Z4DX in Israel. 20m SSB was good as well with several USA stations, again VE7CV and as a bonus VK6WC with a booming signal.
Even on 30m CW one USA station : N1FOJ in New Hampshire.
Again the proof that the bands are OPEN but not many stations are scanning the bands to look for nice DX … only sitting before the DX-cluster screen waiting for a spot ?
40m gave a good run with the EU locals, even a good opening via groundwave.
And very sympatic visit from ON3EVO, Ben. Great to meet this new HAM. Later on also my buddy ON5SWA popped in to say hallo. No need to say we had a pleasant morning.
OR7Z/p worked about 150 contacts mainly 40m SSB and some PSK63.
Where do we go next ?
